With the rapid development of the global economy and the continuous improvement of people's quality of life, people's awareness of environmental protection and health is also increasing. Water-based ink has become the development of ink industry because of its advantages of safety, non-toxicity, harmlessness, non-flammability, and almost no volatile organic gas. Direction and trend. In developed countries such as Europe, America and Japan, ink has gradually replaced oil-based ink and become a special ink for other printing methods besides offset printing. In the United States, for example, 95% of flexo prints use ink and 80% of gravure prints use ink. Ink is also particularly suitable for packaging and printing products with strict hygienic conditions such as tobacco, alcohol, food, beverage, medicine and children's toys. Specifically, the environmental advantages of water-based ink are as follows.
1) No pollution to the atmospheric environment
As water-based ink is used as a solvent carrier, it hardly emits volatile organic gases (VOC) to the atmospheric environment in the production process or in the printing process, and VOC is considered as one of the major sources of atmospheric pollution in the world today. The volatilization loss of organic solvents accounts for about 0.3%~1% of the ink output in general solvent-based ink factories with incompletely sealed production equipment. For the treatment of low VOC concentration, most of them are directly discharged into the atmosphere at high altitude, except a few ink factories adopt high-cost treatment methods such as activated carbon adsorption. VOC will cause serious photochemistry pollution to the atmospheric environment. If the proportion of organic solvents in solvent-based ink is 50%~70%, the amount of VOC directly discharged into the atmosphere is quite astonishing. The water-based ink has just overcome this shortcoming, which is a unique non-polluting feature of the atmospheric environment and is being favored by more and more printing enterprises.
(2) Reduce the residual poisons on the surface of printed matter to ensure food hygiene and safety
Water-based ink completely solves the toxicity problem of solvent-based ink, because it does not contain or contains very few organic solvents, the residual toxic substances on the surface of printed matter are greatly reduced. This characteristic embodies the good health and safety in the packaging and printing materials which require strict sanitary conditions such as tobacco, alcohol, food, drinks, drugs, children's toys and so on. It is very difficult to meet the requirement of food hygiene and safety for printing products using solvent-based inks. However, it is really easy for printing products using water-based inks. Because the organic solvent content in the formulation is very little or no, it will not cause solvent residue. At present, some water-based inks with poor quality are stored. In the so-called residual problem, it is mainly due to the improper composition of the formula.
